"Dutch Courage and Other Stories" is a group of Jack London's short stories. Jack London (1876-1916), was an American author and a pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction. The book is originally published posthumously in 1922 which includes ten stories. It is especially suited to the boy reader. "Dutch Courage" from which the collection takes its name tells a story of two boys on Half-Dome in the Yosemite Valley. The other one"Typhoon Off the Coast of Japan," was the first story London ever wrote for publication written when he was only 17, and it won first prize in a contest sponsored by The San Francisco Call. Charmian London writes in the introduction: "The boy Jack's unexpected success in that virgin venture encouraged him to further effort.
